Baby Edwards Weekend
January 30th, 2010
Ok. This is the weekend, this is the timeline. We’re all coming down South to see you, sweetie. It’s time for you to greet us and time for us to thank you for coming with hugs and kisses and tears. The families are gathering and you’re the reason. You’re our focus and our heartbeat. It may be the shortest month, but now February is our new favorite month of the year!
It’s snowing in Ohio but it will be balmy in Memphis no matter what the temperature because the sunlight of your eyes and touch of your little hands and toes will warm us and thrill us and transform us. Your cousins await you, especially one in Alaska, who needs someone to tell his secrets to that he can trust, and so he can whip a behind-the-back pass to you in the corner and know your confident jump shot will hit nothing but the bottom of the net.
Your mommy needs someone to adore and caress and whisper to and sing to and walk George the Wonder Dog with. Your dad and grandpa need someone to show off and dress in pink, and then in brown and orange to hit grounders to and kick extra points. And your grandmas need someone to hold and admire and spoil and mail all sorts of treasures to whenever they want.
So come on, come out, we’re ready for you, sweetie. Oh how ready we are for you.
Selah.
