Review Year 2009 The

Lists of lists and hopes of hopes. Just a way to chronicle, reminisce, and keep ideas and dreams and memories alive for those who will read them in some faraway somewhere in and out of the Edwards clan. (Last year’s list is here)

GREAT PLACES
  • Memphis
Where our precious little girl is going to be born soon to great joy to the hearts of many
  • Findlay
Where Mike and Shelby make life and dreams come true. And I had my first Roethlisberger.
  • Willow x 3
Where Casey, Mary, and Sebastian go deeper into the West and distill the passion of the wilderness, Lowe’s, and Karelian Bear Dogs, and a grandpa’s sentimental heart.
  • San Diego
Where the sun never sets on the hope of and trust in new life from an amazing Mom and Dad to be.
  • L.A.
Where Justin makes magic. And pioneers a vision for filmmaking that matters
  • Tanzania
Where Joan’s multitalents and compassion are tapped and tapped and tapped.
  • Durham, NC
The place where we learned all about the road not taken (between Durham and Raleigh).
  • Twinsburg
New place, same dad and grandpa: funny, strong, willing, tenacious.
  • Malindi
Refuge and stock footage, courage and climax. The most beautiful ugly place on earth.
  • Dakota
Home sweet home, an office and porch I don’t get to spend as much in as I would like, but the sound of Joan’s sewing machine and boys recording in the basement studio bring peace and contentment.

GREAT EVENTS

  • The Wedding
Awe built on wonder, deep commitment, and Brian Wilson’s song. Thanks, Mike & Shelby!
  • The Announcement
Prayers and perseverance yield a baby to be born in Tennessee. Thanks, Liz! And hugs and kisses to Tracey and Matt.
  • The Bridge
Justin’s African film schools and filming Harmon’s project—both save lives. Thanks, Justin.
  • Anniversary #36
The Joan and Bruce Express powers on. Thanks, Sweetie.
  • Matt’s promotion
Matt’s talent and experience and diligence bring the deserved recognition of his technical communication achievements as Senior Technical Writer! Congrats, Matt!
  • Joan’s Trip to TZ and Hosting TZians Stateside
Joan brings order, wisdom, and joy overseas, and joy, training, and encouragement to the same sisters in craft at home.
  • Sebo’s Spontaneous Dancing
Caught on Willow, AK video, Sebo rises and dances to the orchestral crescendo of Magnificent by U2!
  • Casey’s Castle
Seeing the wondrous Willow Wonderland cabin come into being at three different stages and junctures through 2009, and thrilled by the vision coming into reality.
  • Baby Granddaughter’s Shower
Brilliant and joyful celebration of what’s on the horizon for Matt and Tracey, brought into being through the exuberance and talent of Heidi, Ken, and Patty.
  • Fishing Expedition Extravaganza
Greatgrandpa Bruce Sr. on a great alliance adventure with Casey to capture the elusive Alaskan Fishing License (and a few salmon too!)
  • Stacey and Sarath’s Wedding
Privilege to be invited to this grand Robertson event and gala reception!
  • Speaking at USC
This trip brought me to a campus I’d always wanted to visit, and got o share on C. S. Lewis and be rescued by Matt and Tracey so we could see Mates of State!
  • Chargers x 2
Two great games, one in Qualcomm with Matt and Justin, and one in Cleveland with Joan, Shelby, and Michael. The right team(s) won.

  • Justin Edwards, DUALITY;
  • Michael Edwards, ORNAMENTS, & SOLOS & COMPILATIONS & EPS;

two chansons from ORNAMENTS that will always be in my playlist no matter the season:
Trois Paquebots; Where We’re Loved Best of All (Christmas Morning)

The car window is THE way to do a U2 concert… YouTube, not so much. Lacks the effervescence of said car window.

Oh, and in the music category I would put Great Lake Swimmers’ Lost Channels (thanks to you), and The Swell Season’s Strict Joy (what an awesome title), esp. the song “Low Rising”.
